Learn Tajweed Online — Master Quran Recitation With Certified Teachers
Reciting the Holy Quran with correct Tajweed is a religious obligation, not merely an art form. Every Muslim who recites the Quran in Salah must apply Tajweed rules correctly — yet most people who can read the Quran have never been formally taught these rules. Our online Tajweed classes exist to change that.
Al Huda Quran Teaching’s Nazra and Tajweed course is our core Quran recitation programme, designed for students who want to read and recite the Quran accurately and beautifully. Whether you are a complete beginner who needs to start from the Norani Qaida foundation, or an existing reader who wants to correct their pronunciation and master Tajweed rules, this is the right course for you.
All our Tajweed teachers hold formal Ijazah — a certified chain of Quran transmission — meaning they teach Tajweed exactly as it was passed down from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

What You Will Learn — Full Tajweed Curriculum
Module 1 — Norani Qaida Foundation (Beginners Only)
Students with no prior Arabic reading experience begin with the Norani Qaida — the essential foundation before Tajweed can be taught. This module covers the Arabic alphabet, vowel marks, letter combinations, and basic pronunciation. Students who can already read the Quran skip directly to Module 2.
- All 29 Arabic letters — recognition, names, and pronunciation
- Short vowels (Harakat): Fatha, Kasra, Damma
- Tanween, Sukoon, and Shaddah
- Long vowels (Madd letters) — Alif, Waw, Ya
- Joining letters and reading words fluently
Module 2 — Makharij Al-Huroof (Articulation Points)
Makharij refers to the precise origin point of each Arabic letter within the mouth and throat. This is the foundation of correct Tajweed — a student who does not pronounce letters from their correct Makhruj cannot recite the Quran properly, regardless of how well they know the rules.
- 17 articulation points across the throat, tongue, lips, and nasal passage
- Practical pronunciation exercises for each letter
- Special attention to commonly confused letters: ح/ه, ذ/ز/ظ, ص/س, ط/ت, ع/ء
- Recorded recitation practice for self-correction
Module 3 — Rules of Noon Sakinah, Tanween & Meem Sakinah
These are the most commonly tested Tajweed rules and the ones most often applied incorrectly by non-specialist reciters. This module covers Izhar, Idgham, Iqlab, and Ikhfa — the four rules governing Noon Sakinah and Tanween — as well as Izhar Shafawi and Ikhfa Shafawi for Meem Sakinah.
- Izhar — clear pronunciation at letters of the throat
- Idgham — merging with or without Ghunna (nasalisation)
- Iqlab — conversion of Noon to Meem sound before Ba
- Ikhfa — concealment with nasalisation before 15 letters
- Meem Sakinah rules: Izhar Shafawi, Ikhfa Shafawi, Idgham Shafawi
Module 4 — Applied Quran Recitation
Once all rules are understood, students apply them in live Quran recitation — reading the Holy Quran page by page under teacher supervision. The teacher corrects errors in real time, reinforcing correct Tajweed application throughout the Quran.
- Page-by-page Quran reading with live Tajweed correction
- Recitation of complete Surahs with all rules applied
- Improvement of reading speed and fluency without sacrificing Tajweed
- Final recitation assessment for progression to Hifz if desired

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any prior knowledge to join the Tajweed course?
No prior knowledge is required. If you have never read Arabic before, we start you with the Norani Qaida foundation. If you can already read the Quran but want to improve your Tajweed, we begin from Module 2 after a brief assessment of your current level.
How long does it take to learn Tajweed?
Basic Tajweed rules can be understood within 3–6 months of consistent weekly lessons. Applying Tajweed correctly throughout the full Quran — with fluency — typically takes 1–2 years of regular practice. The timeline depends on your starting level and how many sessions per week you attend.
Do your teachers have an Ijazah in Tajweed?
Yes. All our Tajweed teachers hold a formal Ijazah — a certified chain of Quran transmission that connects them back to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through an unbroken chain of scholars. This is the gold standard of Tajweed teaching.
Will my Salah recitation improve?
Yes — this is one of the most immediate and visible benefits our students report. Once you learn the correct Makharij and basic rules, your Salah recitation improves within weeks. Many students describe it as transformative for their prayer experience.
Can I learn Tajweed as an adult beginner?
Absolutely. Many of our Tajweed students are adults who learned to read the Quran in childhood but never received formal Tajweed instruction. It is never too late to learn, and adult learners often make very fast progress because of their discipline and motivation.
Is there a free trial for the Tajweed course?
Yes. Every student starts with a completely free 1-week trial session. You will hear your teacher recite and experience their correction method before making any commitment.
